Socks! (They're not Rocket Science!)

Socks! (They're not Rocket Science!)

If you’ve always wanted to learn to make socks, 2018 is the year to start!  This pair is a great project to ease your way into sock knitting as they are made using the same method as “regular” socks,.  You will knit with larger needles and bigger yarn than for fine gauge socks. This pattern is sized for baby, toddler, child, adult small, adult medium, and adult large, so after your first pair, you’ll be able to make them for the whole family!  We’ll be using the TinCanKnits Rye pattern for class.

Date:  Mondays, January 22nd & 29th, and February 5th

Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

Cost:  $60 plus materials

Skills Required:  The ability to knit in the round with your choice of DPN, Magic Loop, or 2 circulars, basic decreases (SSK, k2tog), reading a pattern with multiple sizes on one pattern.

Skills Gained: Top-down sock construction:  constructing a heel flap, turning a heel, picking up gusset stiches, closing the end of a toe with the Kitchener stitch.

Worsted weight yarn required for the size socks your will be making.  I recommend Malabrigo Rios, Classic Elite Liberty Wool, Mrs. Crosby Steamer Trunk, and MadelineTosh Tosh Vintage.  I’ll be using Liberty Wool for class, and the class sample was made with Rios.
